Emily West, licensed massage therapist and certified yoga teacher, is excited to announce the official Open House event for her new wellness business in downtown Marietta, Studio O-Y-O: Health in Harmony at 217 Scammel Street on Friday, July 6, 2018. The doors of Studio O-Y-O officially opened on May 4. The open house will kick-off with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce at 3:00pm and doors will be open until 8:30pm. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided by downtown business Jeremiah’s Coffee House. The event corresponds with Marietta Main Street’s First Friday Downtown Art Walk and West will be featuring MOV jewelry artist, Lauren Kager, owner of Elements of Earth, as well as special guest performing artists from Athens, vocalist and songwriter, Carissa Rose, and percussionist, Lawrence Greene.

West brings over 20 years combined experience and education in non-profit and small business administration, the performing arts, yoga, meditation and therapeutic massage to offer individualized treatments of integrative massage therapy, yoga, and meditation education for relieving pain, building resiliency through pain, and easing the cumulative effects of stress and tension on the body and mind. She received her bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration/Dance Concentration from Butler University in 2001, has worked as a studio manager for the Baptiste Power Yoga Institute in Boston, and graduated from Hocking College in 2012 with a degree in Massage and Spa Therapy. She has accumulated 10 years of yoga instruction and 6 years of clinical manual therapy experience. West is currently undergoing training to become an Ayurveda Lifestyle Coach to offer support for building vitality and preventative health and wellness habits beginning in December.

The great and beautiful Ohio River, or OYO (oh-why-oh) as it was called by the Iroquois, is the inspiration for Studio O-Y-O: Health in Harmony, which makes homage to the traits, influence and symbolism of the river and its relationship to the development and history of the Mid-Ohio Valley.

In addition to therapeutic massage treatments and private yoga and meditation instruction by appointment, there are two weekly $10 drop-in yoga classes taking place at Studio O-Y-O every Wednesday:

10:30 – 11:30am Chair Yoga for seniors and anyone with more limited mobility

5:30 – 6:30pm O-Y-O Slow Flow Yoga suitable for beginners and all levels of students
