It’s a big weekend for Marietta, because along with the River Front Roar, it’s also First Friday! July’s event is the Downtown Art Walk sponsored by Signality, with downtown shops and businesses hosting artists and performers from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. From pottery to photography, jewelry to painting—visitors and shoppers can meet the artists and see items that may not be available on a regular basis.
In the past, Merchant and Artist Walks were popular events that drew large crowds to downtown Marietta. Marietta Main Street wanted to bring the Art Walk back to celebrate the art community in Marietta by highlighting public art, local art groups, local artists, art galleries, and more.
Many participating businesses are hosting special events throughout the Art Walk. Studio O-Y-O will be holding their open house, Slice of Life Bakery on Third Street will be offering henna, and the Riverside Artists Gallery will be celebrating the artists in our community with their “Create and Donate Community Art Show” from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., to name a few.
The Art Walk will also be celebrating the installation of two new mural panels along Butler, and the recently updated sign in Gateway Park! Also in Gateway Park, the Fifth Street Quartet will be performing for all to enjoy.
Laura Pytlik, owner of Wit & Whimzy, is hosting artist Stephanie Orr and musician Mike Beardmore. “This should be a great evening for people of all ages, and nearly every downtown business is participating in some way. We are all excited to host these talented people and provide an opportunity for our customers and visitors to meet them.”
The community is invited to spend the evening downtown and enjoy the sights and sounds of this First Friday Art Walk. More details can be found at www.mariettamainstreet.org and the social media pages of participating businesses.
