This weekend, the Friends of the Washington County Public Library and the Friends of the Barlow Library are both hosting their Annual Fall Used-Book Sales, offering affordable, gently-used books, media and other materials to the public.
In Marietta, the sale will take place from Friday, November 2nd through Tuesday, November 6th in the Washington County Public Library Annex, adjacent to the Library’s Fifth Street location. All proceeds from the sale benefit the Friends of the Library. Friday evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm the sale will be open to members of the Friends of the Library only. Public hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, November 3rd and Monday, November 5th. On Tuesday, November 6th, the sale is open from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm, where the cost is $2 per bag, and shoppers can fill their bag with as much as they can fit inside.
The Friends of the Library in Marietta are collecting donations of gently-used books with dust covers, DVDs, and CDs in the Annex Breezeway. Damaged books, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and textbooks will not be accepted.
In Barlow, the sale will place Thursday, November 1st through Saturday, November 3rd at the Barlow Branch Library, on the lower level.
The Friends of the Library (FOL) is a public non-profit organization that welcomes everyone who is interested in supporting their local library. The Friends’ mission is to focus public attention to library services, facilities and needs; to assist the library board and staff in developing and sponsoring programs of educational, cultural, or recreational value for Friends and the community at large; and to develop fundraising projects for the library. Although independent of the library system, the Friends communicate with library staff to pinpoint needs.
