Downtown PKB’s Point Park Concert Series is in full swing this summer with a lineup that is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Each year our concerts become more and more popular. Attendance has peaked at around 2,500 at our July concert last year with our first country band to take the stage – tribute to Kenny Chesney. We engaged our concert fans last year by conducting a survey to see what type of music they would like to see this year. The survey results were used to help our committee select the groups for this year’s concert series.
The Point Park Concert Series is a free-admission concert series located at Point Park in Downtown Parkersburg, West Virginia. Hosted on the first Friday of the month from June through September, the Point Park Concerts have crowds on both land and water. Although the concert series is free for our community, planning and funding for them starts at the beginning of each year by Downtown PKB’s Promotions Committee.
The concerts wouldn’t be possible without financial support from The Ross Foundation, who has graciously provided funding to Downtown PKB to provide tribute band concerts to the community. Donations and sponsorships are also accepted to help fund Downtown PKB’s efforts in bringing quality entertainment and events to our community.
In an effort to offset the expenses of the concert series, Downtown PKB once again be sold reserved seating on a first come, first serve basis to concert fans through our online program on our website(downtownpkb.com.) This year our reserved seating sold out in less than 24 hours. This year’s reserved seats cost $80 each, which guarantees your seat at our four concerts. At the end of the concert series, those purchased seats will go home with the individuals that bought them.
This summer’s remaining concerts are sure to reach every generation with our lineup including: July 7th – Draw the Line (tribute to the Aerosmith), August 4th – Rob Caudill and The Tonight’s the Night Band (tribute to Rod Stewart), September 1st – The Purple Experience (tribute to Prince).
Downtown PKB worked hard to secure sponsors, both in-kind and monetarily, from local businesses to help support the 2017 Concert Series. This year’s title sponsor is Aspire Salon, an Aveda inspired salon located in downtown Parkersburg. Our reserved chair sponsors are WesBanco and Mountain State College. Our remaining concert series sponsors include CAS Cable, Chapman Printing, Jan Dils Attorney at Law, People’s Bank, Memorial Health System, The Blennerhassett Hotel and The City of Parkersburg.
