Clutch MOV was proud to sponsor this year’s Mid-Ohio Valley Entrepreneur of the Year Award, recognizing an outstanding entrepreneur making a difference right here in our region. As the Mid-Ohio Valley’s online magazine, we strive to positively impact the economic, social, and cultural future of the Mid-Ohio Valley through local storytelling and by uplifting those individuals moving our community forward. The award is given out each year at the Mid-Ohio Valley Entrepreneurship Expo, hosted by Marietta College.

We envision a community where all of us can take risks on the promise that a success would uplift the residents of our valley. Artists, creators, makers, and small business owners strive to build something – something new, something worth putting their stamp on. Our entrepreneurs are on the edge – finding solutions for tomorrow’s challenges. Clutch MOV is dedicated to celebrating our entrepreneurs because they are the ones actively building the future for our community.

This year we received dozens of nominations for innovative, forward-thinking, community-building entrepreneurs from the Mid-Ohio Valley. Our panel had a very difficult task in narrowing down the list, but we believed five individuals stood out for the impact they are making through their work. This year’s top five finalists for the 2018 Mid-Ohio Valley Entrepreneur of the Year were:

Andrea Duke, of In A Jam!

Andrew Lisk, of Lisk Lawn Care

Anthony Workman, of Classic Plastics Toy Store

Cheryl McHugh of Full Circle Yoga

And Lyndsay Biehl, of Wildroot Flower Co.

Each of these entrepreneurs are worth of praise. Each has poured countless hours into building a business from scratch. Each has learned how to wear every hat necessary to start and grow a successful business. These individuals have gone above and beyond by trying new things, stepping outside of their comfort zone, and challenging the way things have been done in the past. And every one of them have used their growing business as a way to give back to their community, time and time again. In the coming weeks, we will share each of their stories with you, as each is unique and illustrates what it means to be an entrepreneur.

This year’s Entrepreneur of the Year is a new business owner who has sacrificed early mornings, nights, weekends, and every free moment to grow their business, in addition to working a full-time day job. This individual took a risk and continues to personally invest in all aspects of business growth – figuratively, and literally.

We are pleased to share that this year’s Entrepreneur of the Year is Lyndsay Biehl, Owner and Founder of Wildroot Flower Company! Lynday is involved in every aspect of her business, from tilling the earth and planting the seeds, to harvesting, arranging, delivering, selling, marketing, and teaching. She has learned much through trial and error, always at the mercy of Mother Nature and Ohio’s consistently inconsistent weather. She’s explored new ways to serve her customers, through a seasonal Community Sponsored Agriculture program, hosting creative workshops, and offering custom design services. Lyndsay grows her specialty cut flowers using only sustainable growing techniques, a strong believer in organic growing methods. Lyndsay is passionate, hard-working, and creative. She has conquered her fears and embraced risk.

Stay tuned in coming weeks as we share the stories of each of our finalists!
