Sarah ArnoldIf you follow us on Instagram, you might’ve seen us throw around a new hashtag over the past few months – #MOVHistory. As we worked diligently behind the scenes on our second print issue, we wanted to engage all of you to see which local landmarks meant the most to you. Some were historically significant to our communities as a whole, whether it was Fort Boreman, the Harmar Bridge, or the Castle. Others were more meaningful to your own personal history – places or landmarks that maybe aren’t documented in our city archives, but are central in the memories you’ve made here.
Both kinds of landmarks are important when we discuss local history. Our memories, new and old, are just as important as those preserved in museums and inscribed in our monuments. Often we think of history as very far away, only glimpsed in sepia toned photos and black and white film reels. We can forget that new history is being made here, every day – by us!
Our second print issue is titled “Local History” and attempts to capture both sides of the coin. We love the stories, myths and legends that make our communities what they are – and while we want to honor our roots, we also keep in mind that new chapters are continuously being written. Each and every one of us are part of it.
Without further ado, we’d like to introduce you to Issue 02: Local History. Like our first issue, our writers, photographers, interns and art director have poured their hearts into this project – it is truly a labor of LOTS of love!
Our staff is fervently working around the clock to wrap up production and will be sending this beauty off to the printer very soon! We will be sure to alert you as soon as we have copies in hand – we truly cannot wait to share it with you! We know you are going to love it, simply because your love for the Mid-Ohio Valley is clear in your support of this magazine and our staff. We hope your love may always continue to grow.
