The sights and sounds of the holiday season are in full gear every holiday season with Marietta Main Street’s Hometown Holidays lineup of events and attractions. Thanks to the coordination of area volunteers, those sights and sounds include six opportunities for locals and tourists to enjoy free horse-drawn carriage rides through the historic downtown district.

“The carriage rides add a beautiful touch to the City for the holidays and showcases our vibrant downtown,” says coordinator Tammy Wilson of Teri Ann’s. “It’s a very giving way for the merchants to say thank you to all their wonderful customers throughout the year by sponsoring a carriage ride.”

“There is nothing cozier than a horse-drawn carriage ride in historic Marietta.

While carriage rides have been an annual tradition to have sponsored downtown, businesses rotate sponsorships to ensure various businesses have the opportunity to enjoy. This year, the Marietta-Washington County CVB, Baker & Baker Jewelers, Jeremiah’s Coffee House, Marietta Adventure Company, Teri Ann’s, and The Cook’s Shop are each carriage ride sponsors on various dates throughout the holiday season.

The Marietta-Washington County CVB kicks off this year’s carriage ride schedule by sponsoring free rides for the community to enjoy on Small Business Saturday, November 30th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

“There is nothing cozier than a horse-drawn carriage ride in historic Marietta. The CVB is happy to sponsor this magical Christmas experience enjoyed by visitors and locals alike,” shares Deana Clark, CVB Executive Director.

Additional carriage rides can be enjoyed on Friday, December 6th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Baker & Baker Jewelers and Jeremiah’s Coffee House), Saturday December 7th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (Marietta Adventure Company), Saturday December 14th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (Teri Ann’s), and Saturday December 21st from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (The Cook’s Shop).

“We encourage folks hoping to enjoy a carriage ride to arrive early and to make a day of it – shop local, dine local, and enjoy our holiday décor to match the spirit of the season,” shares Main Street Director Cristie Thomas.
