Following your dream takes a lot of guts and determination. Parkersburg, West Virginia native, Matt Enik, has just that. Enik received his first guitar at age 12 and has been writing songs and playing ever since. After graduating from Parkersburg South High School, the singer/songwriter made the move to Nashville, TN to attend Belmont University to earn a degree in Music Business and pursue his career in music.
Reflecting back on his exciting last few years, Matt, now 21 years old, says the summer before last was a pretty memorable one for him.
“My band and I toured for three months, and we were on the road almost every day. It was hard, but I learned a lot about what this kind of life requires.”
On December 2, 2014, Enik released his new EP titled, “Our Side”. The EP was produced by Jeff Stevens, who produces work for Luke Bryan, and Jeff’s son, Jody, who has worked with Cole Swindell. “The songs on the EP are all songs that I’ve written over the past few years. We narrowed it down from about 100 songs my four best. So I’m really proud of it.”
Enik came back home to the Mid-Ohio Valley last month to celebrate the release of his new EP by holding a release party at the Adelphia Music Hall in Marietta, Ohio. “The release party at The Adelphia was great! I got to play for a lot of new people who came to see Jason Michael Carroll. I didn’t really get a chance to promote/sell a lot of CDs at the show, so I’m considering doing another show in the MOV sometime this spring.”
Looking ahead to what 2015 has to offer, Matt says he plans to write and tour full time after graduation. “2015 is all about graduating college and figuring out how I’m gonna survive. I’m not really worried about it at all, but I want to do everything I can to make music my bread and butter.”
