With the holidays right around the corner, Marietta Main Street is gearing up for a busy season of decking the halls and trimming Downtown for the holidays. Locals and tourists alike have lots of fun to look forward to this holiday season between festive events like the Holiday Loft Tour and the Merry-Etta Christmas Parade, and the brand new decor that will light up Downtown like never before.

Thanks to the dedication of Marietta Main Street’s Hometown Holidays Committee and the generosity of donors who contributed to the Christmas in July fundraising campaign, Marietta Main Street will be installing all new pre-lit wreaths and garland on lamp posts throughout Downtown this year. Thanks to a very special donation from Mister Bee Potato Chips, this year’s decor will also include a 25’ tall tree, featuring a dazzling 9,000 lights. The tree will proudly stand tall in Armory Square, amidst a festive Dr. Seuss inspired Christmas Village, kindly sponsored by Jeremiah’s Coffee House.

“Marietta Main Street, along with the amazing generosity of Mister Bee Potato Chips, Jeremiah’s Coffee House, and Huntington Bank, are unveiling the Hometown Holiday Spectacular,” said Marietta Main Street Vice President, Tim Glover. “This will by far be the best holiday celebration in memory.”

Just as it took a village to fundraise these brilliant additions to Marietta’s downtown decor, it will take a village to prepare downtown for the season’s festivities! Marietta Main Street is asking for volunteer assistance for the following:

DELIVERY DAY

On Monday, October 22nd, Marietta Main Street will be receiving all of their decor, which will arrive in more than 90 boxes. Volunteers are needed to help unload the delivery truck and carry boxes up to the third floor of the Armory, beginning at 5:00 p.m. If you have questions, please contact Debbie Cline at clinedeb@gmail.com.

DECKING THE HALLS

Marietta Main Street needs all hands on deck this year to decorate Downtown! Volunteers will meet as early as 7:00 a.m. at the Armory to get started, and use the Armory as a home base throughout the day. Volunteers will be prepping and installing wreaths and garland, hanging the holiday flags and poles, cleaning up the sidewalks, and placing the holiday sponsor tags on lampposts throughout downtown. “Marietta Main Street is in charge of the on-going efforts to create an inviting and attractive atmosphere for residents and visitors year-round in Downtown Marietta,” said Marietta Main Street Board Member, Debbie Cline. Debbie, also co-owner of Twisted Sisters Boutique, also chairs the Marietta Main Street Promotions and Hometown Holidays Committees. “We are excited to roll out new holiday decorations, a beautiful 25’ tall tree, and a Whoville inspired village to bring families downtown to make holiday memories,” Debbie said. “We are asking for your help in decorating our town for all to enjoy.”

MERRY-ETTA LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE

Marietta Main Street is also looking for fifteen volunteers to assist with this year’s Merry-Etta Lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 24th. Volunteers are requested from 3:30 p.m. through the parade, which begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends with the lighting of the tree at the Armory Square.
