Jessica was born and raised in Parkersburg and graduated from Marshall University with bachelor's degrees in Public Relations and Spanish and a master's degree in Journalism. Previous freelance opportunities have included pieces for the Huntington Quarterly, Marshall Magazine, and St. Mary's Today. Jessica spent 14 years away from the Mid-Ohio Valley, living in Huntington and Logan, yet ultimately, decided to follow her calling to the classroom and to raise her children in her hometown near family and dear friends. She has a son, Bronson, who is 8, and a daughter, Frances, who is 3. She teaches WV Studies and Spanish and advises History Bowl, National Junior Honor Society, and yearbook at Jackson Middle School. The 2019-2020 school year is her twelfth.
