But as to this topic, I look forward to a time in our culture when we don’t have to celebrate a strong female lead character because they are just as common as male ones. I’d like to think it’s a sign of progress that my best friend and I watched (and loved) this movie without even discussing the fact that Rey was a strong female lead. We were both just drawn to how powerful a character she was.

Does that make sense?
